[01] The weekly budget

A weekly budget, set before the toss.

The first habit: a weekly budget. The second: a stop rule. The third: a session timeout.

The first habit is a weekly budget. The budget is set before the toss; the budget is the maximum amount the reader is willing to spend on fantasy contests in a week. The budget is not a target; the budget is a ceiling. Reading the budget once is the cheapest way to know the reader's limit.

The second habit is a stop rule. The stop rule is set at the same time as the budget; the stop rule is the moment the reader stops, regardless of the contest. The stop rule is not negotiable; the stop rule is the small habit that prevents a busy week from becoming a busy month.

[02] The session habit

The session habit, and the small list of habits that protect it.

The third habit: a session timeout. The fourth: the right time to walk away. The small list of habits that protect a session.

The third habit is a session timeout. The timeout is on the app settings; the timeout is the maximum number of minutes the reader will spend on the app in a single session. Reading the timeout once is the cheapest way to know when the session should end.

The right time to walk away is when the timeout is reached, not when the contest ends. Walking away at the timeout is the small habit that prevents a single session from becoming a weekend, and the weekend from becoming a month.
